I suppose it doesn't matter since we can disable it but I don't think anyone asked for this feature. If I wanted to use a rich text editor, I'd have opened a different app. Markdown editing is interesting but again, I would probably have opened vscode or another editor if I'm writing markdown.
I'm also almost entirely on linux though so maybe I'm just not the target demographic.

Notepad used to be the most Unix way application. Now there is a visible delay in startup while it paints itself. I have encountered numerous visual glitches. Yet now there is copilot integration, so someone met this quarters KPI.
