Show HN: Real-time emergency incident maps from police/fire/EMS radio (alertpage.ai)

I live near DFW. I found the link to those reports and noticed that every one of them is from Dallas County. There are none from Tarrant County (Fort Worth is in Tarrant County) or the surrounding counties. This whole metro area is quite large taking all or part of several counties.

For this to be useful to anyone in that region it should include reports from the region, not just from one county. Dallas is not Fort Worth is not Dallas.

This is so cool - it reminds me of the police scanner apps but with a visual and searchable. Can't wait to see more departments added.

How are you storing the transcripts for each report and how long would you store the reports?

Incident metadata and transcripts are stored in a PostgreSQL db indefinitely. We've logged over 250k incidents since January. Planning on combining the incident data with other sources for historical analysis, search and such.

thank you

I like that you're adding historical analysis - it reminds me of some similar ideas I've seen in the past, like the opportunity atlas (https://www.opportunityatlas.org/) or the roadway report (https://roadway.report/beta).

you could also add colored markers to filter by incident type, frequency, etc.
